JAMMU, Sept 19:
After the failure on part of the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) to raise a competitive State team for the prestigious North Zone (qualifying) meet for Senior National for Santosh Trophy, the J&K State Sports Council (JKSSC) selected and deputed the J&K team for the competition to be held at Haldwani in Uttrakhand from September 22.
It was after a lot of hue and cry by the senior players and football clubs in Jammu that the JKSSC agreed to hold the selection and depute the team for the National event.
The team was given a send off after screening conducted by the JKSSC at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here under the guidance of Divisional Sports Officer, Jammu of the Sports Council, Ravi Singh.
The screening process was also joined by president District Football Association (DFA) Jammu, Sheikh Mehmood.
However, the JKSSC could not make the list of the players public in the 20-member contingent.
