Special Olympics Bharat J&K Chapter organised three days State games for disabled at Youth Hostel, Nagrota Jammu with the sole motive to explore their hidden talent through the medium of sports under MYAS in collaboration of SAI, Paralympics and association of deaf.
Special Athletes from Kathua, Samba, Reasi Udhmapur and Jammu Districts excelling in District events participating in State Games.
Dy. Inspector General of Police Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, IPS, inaugurated. In his inaugural address said that this initiative by SOB under MYAS deserves all commendations for providing wide range of opportunities to explore the hidden talent of persons with Disabilities through the medium of sports. It is my proud privilege that I am part of such a noble mission and I wish to remain with this movement to assist the persons with Disabilities and the organiser. A day will come when today’s winner will excel in national events. The Chief Guest offered floral tributes and also enlightened ceremonial lamp before founder special Olympus international Eunice Shriver Kennedy as a token of respect. Director General Sports J&K Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed, KAS dispatched his blessings for the successful conduct of State level sports events for the persons with disabilities. Jai Dev Dada Ji, Chief Sewa Bharati J&K inspired the athletes during the events in the ground. Dr D.R.Kapoor, KAS (Retd.) Former Municipal Commissioner Jammu was the Guest of Honor. Shiv Kumar Sharma Joint Secretary J&K Sports Council also blessed the special athletes in the inaugural ceremony.
About 271 special athletes and 68 coaches participated. The dignitaries who also graced the occasion are G.R.Bhagat IAS (Retd) Former Deputy Commissioner, Dr Amit Sharma, KPS Deputy Supdt. of Police, Ranu Kundal, KPS Deputy Supdt of Police, District Sports Officer Dr S.S.Chib Dr Sanjiv Vaid, Zonal Chairman, Rotract, S. Adeep Mehta, Zonal Chairman Literacy, Anil Sawaraj, Secretary Rotary Club, Gandhian Didi Raj Bharti, renowned educationist, Cultural programmes also entertained the participants by renowned TV and Radio artists as Mahesh Kotwal, Suraj Sharma, Avtar Kour, Santosh Bandral, Taniya. The District Co-ordinator who Coordinated all districts are Dr Khemraj Sharma, Samba, Tara Chand Sharma, Udhmapur, Rakesh Kumar, Reasi, Sunil Sharma, Kathua, Gurmeet Singh, Jammu.
The events conducted in the ground are Boccee, Badminton, Wheel Chair Race, Softball Throw, 100 mtr race, 50 mtr race, Zig-zag Dribbling, Run and Kick and shooting.
Ashwani Jojra State President, SOB J&K Chapter presented welcome and keynote address, Mr. Raj Kumar Sharma presented vote of thanks. Jatin Chanjotra Programme Manager, Dr M.L.Rana BMO Sohanjan and Clinical Director Health promotion SOB J&K conducted the proceedings of entire programme, Ms Kamaljeet Kour sports Incharge conducted all events in the ground. Oath of SOB administrated with the commitment.
