JAMMU, Mar 29:
Three-day State Kabaddi (men and women) Championship, organised by the J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association, got underway at Subash Stadium, here today.
In opening matches won by J&K Police and Jammu district. While in men’s section, J&K Police defeated district Kathua 30-20, Jammu district trounced Udhampur 53-19 in women’s category.
Earlier, the event was declared open by District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Dr Piyush Singla, who was the chief guest.
He congratulated and appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee for smooth hosting mega event in the district. Senior Superintendent of Police Udhampur, Rajiv Pandey IPS was the guest of honour while Gurwinder Jeet Singh (Additional Deputy Commissioner) were special guests.
Among others present were Rohit Gupta (Dy. SP Headquarter), Vijay Choudhary (SHO Udhampur), Isha Mahajan (Incharge Women cell), Kharati Lal Sharma (DYSSO Udhampur), Kuldeep Gupta (CEO J&K Kabaddi Association), Surinder Mohan Gupta (general secretary J&K Kabaddi Association), Sangram Singh (treasurer), Ankush Chib and Rakesh Kumar.
The prominent citizens who witnessed the opening match were Ravi Malguria (president Chamber of Commerce), Sanjeev Sharma (president Beopar Mandal), Raj Guru, Vikram Singh Salathia, Suresh Khajuria, Ravi Singh, Saktish Chopra (Manager Subash Stadium Udhampur), Roshan Lal and Dr. Vikram Gulati.
This tournament is being organized under the patronage of Anil Gupta, (president J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association) and overall supervised by Sheikh Tanveer Ahmed (president Udhampur District Kabaddi Association) and Ashok Kumar Sharma (general secretary Udhampur District Kabaddi Association).
The matches officiated by the technical penal including Ashwani Kumar, Bhim Sein, Kuldeep Sharma, Ajit Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Pushap Sharma, Rakesh Khajuria, Ramesh Chander, Naveen Sharma, Ravi Kumar, Vipin Photra, Amit Sharma, Pallavi Magotra and Ram Kumar (all the officials of the DYSS ). Sanjay Sharma was the coordinator of the tournament and Amit Sharma was commentator.
