Jammu Nov 13:
The holy town of Purmandal, revered as Chhoti Kashi on the banks of the sacred Devika River, is all set to host the Sthapna Diwas celebrations of the Purmandal–Uttar Behani Tirath Seva Nyas on November 19, 2025. Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Giving details, BJP J&K spokesperson Advocate Purnima Sharma said that the event will commence at 4 PM with a Maha Yagya and Devika Maharati, coinciding with the auspicious day of Chaturdashi–Saptami (Choudas Sahtami). The celebration will also mark the inauguration of the traditional Purmandal Mela, highlighting the town’s centuries-old spiritual and cultural legacy.
Established eight years ago under the guidance of Suresh Ji Joshi, the Purmandal–Uttar Behani Tirath Seva Nyas has been actively engaged in the promotion of Sanatan Dharma, the development of Purmandal and Uttar Behani, and the revival of pilgrimage tourism in the Devika circuit.
The Nyas runs several community welfare and religious initiatives, including free Tuition Centres, a Ved Vidyalaya for Vedic learning, weekly Havan and Poojan, a Tailoring Centre for women empowerment, and regular Medical Camps for local residents. It also operates the Ramlila Sewa Kendra, undertakes heritage conservation projects, and has announced a tree plantation drive of 500 saplings on the occasion of Sthapna Diwas.
BJP spokesperson Adv. Purnima Sharma also highlighted the significance of the event and appreciated the dedicated efforts of the Nyas in preserving the region’s religious and cultural ethos.
“The Purmandal–Uttar Behani Tirath Seva Nyas exemplifies the spirit of Seva, Sanskriti, and Sanatan values.
Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha ji, Jammu & Kashmir has witnessed a renewed emphasis on preserving our spiritual heritage and developing key pilgrimage destinations,” she stated.
Adv. Sharma further appealed to devotees, saints, and local residents to participate wholeheartedly in the celebrations and seek the divine blessings of Maa Devika.
“This Sthapna Diwas is not merely an event—it is a reaffirmation of our shared commitment to Sanatan Dharma and our sacred heritage. I urge everyone to join this divine gathering and take part in the collective worship,” she added.
The celebration is expected to draw large participation from devotees, scholars, and dignitaries across Jammu and adjoining regions.
