New Delhi, Dec 16 :
Congress Rajya Sabha member and former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, Digvijaya Singh, has hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and called upon “Indians to stand together to fight the ugly virus of communal hatred”. Digvijaya Singh came out with a series of tweets on Monday against the CAA and its fallout across India, including the north-east. He hit out hard at Modi and Shah saying it was “very unfortunate a nation, which went through trauma of partition, and because of sane leadership of Nehru, Patel, Azad, Ambedkar became the largest successful democracy in the world, is being again thrown into extreme communal divide by Modi-Shah government. Sad.” In another tweet, he said, “Wake up Indians otherwise, it would be too late. Indians irrespective of their caste, creed or religion have to stand together to fight this ugly virus of communal hatred.” In a final tweet Digvijaya targeted the ally leaders of BJP, saying “Nitish ji, Ramvilas ji, Navin Patnaik ji, Prakash Singh Badal ji, how can you allow this to happen? Please stop Modi Shah to ruin our secular India, our very idea of India before it is too late. I also appeal to the corporate friends of Modi-Shah duo to intervene. Take back CAA.” The Congress leader also shared a tweet showing a viral video that purportedly showed dubious role of the Delhi police in torching a bus to ask Amit Shah as to would he tell what a policeman was carrying (in the video) as Delhi police was directly accountable to him (Shah) as home minister. ‘Delhi police action very unfortunate’ Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath, while talking to media in Bhopal regarding the action of police in universities at Jamia and Aligarh said it was extremely unfortunate that police did such excess that is leading to the kind of atmosphere in the country. “I say to all people that the culture of India is that of brotherhood. But we should keep away from all kind of violence,” Nath said.
