Experienced Sumit Grover bagged the first place in senior men’s category in the Jammu Division Selection Chess competition which was organised by the All J&K Chess Association (AJKCA) at Hotel Nek, here today.
Second place in the same category went to young and promising Soham Kamotra while Sanyam Gupta remained third.
However, Soham secured first place in under-19 category. He was followed by Sanyam Gupta and Aryan at second and third place respectively.
Now, the winners of different age groups shall be joined by their counterparts from Kashmir for the upcoming Nationals. Earlier, the competition conducted by FIDE Arbiter, Anil kotwal under FIDE Laws of chess under the supervision of Association president, Atul Kumar Gupta. Association vice president, Baldev Raj and Advisor, Dr.AS Bhatia were also present.

Under-Nine: Anand Abrol, Ist; Saksham Sabharwal, 2nd and Devansh Mahajan, 3rd. Under-11: Pranav Abrol and Anand Abrol, joint winners and Saksham Sabharwal, 3rd. Under-13: Pranav Abrol, Ist; Ayush Gupta, 2nd and Dewang Gupta, 3rd. Under-15: Soham Kamotra, Ist; Pranav Abrol, 2nd and Ayush Gupta, 3rd. Under-17: Sanyam Gupta, Ist; Superb Jain, 2nd and Harshit, 3rd. Under-19: Soham Kamotra, Ist; Sanyam Gupta, 2nd and Aryan, 3rd.
