Activists of Young Panther, today held a protest demonstration against Jammu Municipal Corporation at Pamposh Colony Sector-II Ward No. 38, Janipur. Scores of YP activists led by District President YP, Tarsem Singh in the presence of State vice President YP, Partap Singh Jamwal assembled at sector-II Pamposh Colony Janipur and raised slogans against JMC.
Addressing the protesters, Tarsem Singh said that Sector-II, Pamposh Colony has been turned into a ward of garbage. He said that the Nallah of the said sector are over flowing with the garbage water, drains are in the dilapidated condition while a single development work has not been taken place in the sector-II, Pamposh colony ward 38 for the last five years by the JMC.
He said there is very poor drainage system in the sector-II, all the drains of the said sector are in dilapidated conditions, sewerage main holes lying damaged and dirty water coming from them over flowing and entering in the houses of the people. He said that the unhygienic state of the nallah emanating foul odour had wrecked havoc among the local shopkeepers and the residents as the dangerous situation had led to breeding of mosquitoes besides infestation of rodents inside.
Tarsem Singh said that due to the lack of appropriate sanitation policy and proper garbage disposal system, the accumulation of polythene bags and plastic pet bottles in the sewers as well as on the land was mainly responsible for the alarming environmental pollution besides health hazards to both humans and animals.
State Vice President YP, Partap Singh Jamwal addressed the gathering said that the JMC corporation is not properly functioning in Ward No. 38 Pampposh Colony Sector-II. “we had repeatedly complained against the non-functioning of the various segments of JMC, but due action was taken thus far”, He also lambasted the concerned Corporator and ex-MLA for not paying heed to their woes.
Partap Said that PM Narendra Modi’s “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” which was launched to make India clean, seems to have failed in Jammu city as heaps of garbage can be seen in several areas of the town and the concerned authorities least bothered. Although, initially several programmes and awareness campaigns were launched in Jammu city by bureaucrats, politicians and officers of JMC but with passage of time the cleanliness appears nowhere.
The heaps of garbage can be seen in several localities of Jammu even as the banners encouraging people to participate wholeheartedly in the “Swachh Bharat” campaign are there on the walls.
Other who were present in this protest including Rakesh Kumar (Distt. Gen. Secy. YP), Bishan, Attar Singh, Ishar Dass, Janu, Kala, Rakesh, Kimti Lal, Surinder, Sunil Sharma, Ashok Verma, Vikrant Khajuria, Ayush Sharma, Varun, Vipul Sharma, Sanjeev Singh, Abisheek Sharma and others.
