Swachta Hi Seva : Gram Sabha, cleanliness drives, Anti-plastic rally organized at Showa

As a part of Swachta Hi Seva 2019, a series of awareness activities are being held in different Panchayats across the Block Bhalwal.
An awareness camp was organised today at Panchayat Showa.
The camp focused on the motivating young generation to shun single use plastic and collection and disposal of plastic waste.
Block Development Officer Bhalwal, Saima Sharief Khan; Sarpanch Showa, Panches, Village Level Worker Preety Kohli, villagers and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
During the drive, the locals were made aware of the ill effects of the Single Use Plastic and Polythene on the environment. The locals were apprised about the ban on single use plastic and were encouraged to use other eco-friendly alternatives. Mud pots were also distributed on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, BDO Saima Sharief Khan said that Single Use Plastic has been banned across the country and appealed the people to switchover to reusable and eco-friendly alternatives.
VLW Preety Kohli urged the gathering to take pledge to make Panchayat free from single use plastic.
Meanwhile, a Special Gram Sabha was organised at Seri Panditan Panchayat under the leadership of Sarpanch Nasib Singh with agenda to ban on Single Use Plastic and Swatchta Hi Seva Campaign. Activities like distribution of Mud Pots, collection of plastic by the people etc were organised during the Gram Sabha.
A rally by the students of a local school was taken out which was participated by large number of students to spread the message of Swachhta Hi Sewa and create mass awareness about ill-effects of indiscriminate use of plastic.
The rally was flagged off by the Sarpanch Nasib Singh in presence of Panchayat Secretary Preety Kohli.
The students displayed banners, held placards that carried a green message and chanted slogans against the use of single use plastic.
Students pledged to refrain from usage of plastic and convince their family and friends for the same to create environmental responsibility. During the rally, the polythene bags were also replaced by the jute bags from the consumers.
Addressing the gathering, Panchayat Secretary Preety Kohli apprised the locals about the ban on single use plastic and encouraged them to use other eco-friendly alternatives. She appealed the people to switchover to reusable and eco-friendly alternatives.
