Nitish Mahajan, BJP State Executive Body Member on Thursday asked party activists to impart awareness among people for taking all precautionary measures to prevent the spread of a possible second wave of COVID-19 in the region.
The BJP leader was addressing a workers’ meeting here to discuss the challenge which J&K is currently confronting with regard to lethal coronavirus.
Mahajan said that looking into the alarming rise in the cases of coronavirus in States like Punjab, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, etc, it becomes imperative to remain vigilant against the deadly virus and in no case people should lower the guard by not wearing masks, ignoring social distancing norms or by not maintaining hands sanitization. “It is the time to make people understand that all the precautions are only for their safety and any disagreement by whosoever at this juncture of time is uncalled for and needs to be decried at the very first instance”, he said adding that cooperating with the government agencies also is the key to contain coronavirus.
Mahajan however applauded the central dispensation led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving nod to administering vaccine jabs to people over the age of 45 years from April 1, 2021. He said that this move will help in eliminating coronavirus to a large extent and the government deserves kudos for its role in making available indigenous vaccines to people in record time. He also urged the eligible beneficiaries for taking the vaccination as soon as possible since this is very important in stopping the further spread of the virus besides saving the lives of those who have co-morbidities.
