The State government on Thursday released the merit list for MBBS and BDS admission. Of the total 28,067 students, who had applied for government quota seats, 25,417 — 10,473 boys, 17,593 girls and a transgender – are eligible to take part in the counselling.
Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar released the merit lists for government quota seats and management quota seats.
K. Keerthana, with a NEET score of 676, has topped the list followed by R. Raj Chendur Abhishek (NEET score of 656) in second rank and R. Praveen (NEET score of 650) in third rank.
Among the top 10 rank holders, four students are from Chennai, while the remaining are from districts.
The first phase of counselling will commence on July 1 for special category students — sports persons, children of ex-servicemen and physically challenged candidates. It will go on till July 10.
Mr. Vijayabaskar told reporters that they have increased the number of seats for sports category and children of ex-servicemen, while five per cent seats have been reserved for physically challenged candidates.
