Tawi Trekkers’ nominates Rahul as Patron

Chairman, Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab and a senior member of Tawi Trekkers, J&K, Rahul Sharma has been nominated as Patron of the Club, today. The honour was conferred on Rahul Sharma as a mark of gratitude, respect and recognition of contribution made by him for the sustained promotion of adventure activities of the club during the last 25 years.
The decision was taken in an Executive Body meeting chaired by former MLA, Ashwani Sharma. Prominent among others present in the meeting included Co Chairman Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Secretary General Press Club of Jammu; Legal Advisor Prem Sadotra; president Ram Khajuria; Senior vice president, Rajesh Gupta; general secretary, Shawetica Khajuria and senior members Vivek Chauhan, Principal Oriental Academy; Arti Sharma, Director Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Jammu; Sushil Singh, Sakshi Magotra, Sunil Chakharia, Deepika Dutta and Abhimanyu Sherpa.
Rahul Sharma has become second Patron of the club after Ashwani Sharma, former MLA, who was nominated as Patron in 2016 after 11 years of distinguished service to the club.
Rahul Sharma joined Tawi Trekkers J&K in 1990 as a teenager and for the last 29 years has been regularly contributing towards the progress of the club in one way or the other. His major contribution started with partial sponsorship of the first mountaineering expedition of the club to Gulap Kangri peak in Ladakh in 1996 when he arranged free boarding and lodging at Leh for the members of the expedition. Since then he has not looked back and has patronised innumerable activities of the club.
However, Rahul Sharma’s most significant contribution to the club and to the state of J&K is the promotion of Sport Climbing in J&K. Besides the brain behind the fabrication of a sport climbing wall and an international standard “Finger Board” in the premises of Sprawling Buds ICSE School, he has also sponsored many coaching camps for budding as well as senior climbers at Jammu and at Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi with the sole vision to produce international sport climbers and medalists from Jammu.
These contributions by Rahul Sharma have paid rich dividends to Tawi Trekkers as the club has the proud privilege of having top ranked national climber Ajay Deep Singh, 2nd ranked Shivani Charak, 3rd ranked Arun Deep Singh and Mrityunjay Sharma and Asma Gul who are also among the top 10 ranked sport climbers of India.
Meanwhile, prominent members of Tawi Trekkers and affiliated clubs of Mountaineering Association of J&K including Everester Ram Singh, Everester Sajjad Haider, Everester Nirmal Kumar, Stanzin Youthog, Navneet Gupta, Rakesh Goswami, Yogeshwar Kumar, Khurshid Ahmad, Anukampa Sharma, Shivani Charak, Mrityunjay Sharma, Ambreen Fatima and Sonam Sidharth have congratulated Rahul Sharma on his elevation as Patron of Tawi Trekkers J&K, one of the most prestigious clubs in the country.
