Expressing serious concern over the difficulties being faced by the NEET qualified candidates from economical weaker sections, Team Jammu Chairman Zorawar Singh Jamwal has sought immediate intervention of Governor Satya Pal Malik for avoiding further harassment of the MBBS/BDS aspirants. While meeting with the aggrieved candidates and their parents, who visited Team Jammu head office, here today, for highlighting the difficulties being faced in getting certificate of EWS category, demanded by the Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE), Zorawar Singh Jamwal questioned the rationale behind seeking fresh certificate from those who had already submitted the same .
“What is the fun of seeking fresh certificate from those candidates who have already submitted the same at the time of earlier counseling two months back while validity of the EWS certificate is six months,” he sought to know from the officials concerned. Team Jammu chief Zorawar Singh Jamwal further said that the candidates were facing acute difficulties in getting the EWS certificate from the concerned authorities as the Government has neither circulated nor uploaded the SRO 518 on the official website despite issuance of the same on September 14. “In absence of the required details in the SRO and clarification over the same, the Revenue authorities are reluctant in issuing the EWS certificates thus resulting the harassment of poor candidates who are running from the pillar to post for the said certificates, ” he explained. During the meeting, the aggrieved candidates informed Chairman Team Jammu that soon after reading the advertisement of BOPEE issued on September 14, they visited their respective Revenue department offices to seek details, they had return disappointedly as none of the official have received any written communiqué till date.
Seeking Governor Satya Pal Malik’s personal intervention for necessary instructions to get the things cleared with regard to EWS certification, Zorawar Jamwal also demanded extension of the last date for submission of EWS certificate so that no one deserving may deprive in getting the genuine benefit of reservation under this category.
It is pertinent to mention here that, it was Team Jammu that on August 28, has highlighted that even after passage of the law extending 10 percent reservation to Economically Weaker Sections in Jammu and Kashmir, the Government has not so far notified rules of the same with the result that deserving candidates under economically weaker section category are being deprived of the much awaited reservation benefit. And even now after the issuance formal order in that regard, still the confusion and chaos is prevailing among the aggrieved students. The authorities at helm of affairs must complete their work so that aggrieved students can avail opportunity extended by Government of India, said Zorawar Singh Jamwal.
