Vowing to protect wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu region, Team Jammu today reiterated its resolve to carry on fight to end discrimination with this region.
A function-Dhanywaad Samaroh- was organized today to felicitate candidates who had contested recently held urban local bodies elections in Jammu which was attended by large number of people including elderly, women and youth.
Former Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Mr. Narinder Singh and Chairman, Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal jointly honoured candidates who are also known for their social work especially their fight against drug abuse included newly elected Corporator of Ward No 24 Mrs Anu Bali, Rakesh Mishra, Er Chandan Dutta, Rameshwar Sharma, Angrez Singh Babbi, Deepak Kumar, Sunil Singh Jamwal and Sulabh Mahajan from R. S Pura.
While addressing the jam-packed gathering, Chairman, Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal said that results of these elections were eye-opener for national parties who have been neglecting Jammu region to appease Kashmir centric parties.
Mr Zorawar Singh Jamwal said that those claiming that they have won Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) elections were living in a fool’s paradise because vote share of both BJP and Congress have come down drastically.
“While as vote share of BJP has come down to 51 percent as compared to 2014 assembly elections, Congress’s vote share also registered 21 percent down”, Mr Zorawar Singh Jamwal said and mentioned that people of Jammu region have preferred Independents at the cost of BJP and Congress.
In the 2014 assembly elections Congress had secured 67981votes in Jammu city but this time party’s vote share has come down to 53684, which is 14,297 less and equal to 21.03 percent.
As par official data in the 2014 assembly elections, BJP had secured 148081 votes in three assembly segments of Jammu city-Gandhi Nagar, Jammu East and Jammu West. But in the just concluded ULB elections, party’s vote share came down to 72503 votes, which were 75578 less than assembly polls and 54 percent less than 2014 vote share.
Emphasizing on the need of forming a region political party to fulfill wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu region, Mr Zorawar Singh Jamwal said that patience of people of Jammu region was running out but national parties were shamelessly indulge into appease Kashmir centric parties. “Competitive appeasement among two national parties to appease Kashmir centric leaders would fuel brewing anger among people of Jammu and Ladakh region”, he warned and resignation of two political stalwarts of Ladakh from BJP was an indication of brewing anger among neglected and humiliated people of Ladakh and Jammu.
In his address, former Mayor, JMC, Mr Narinder Singh congratulated all the volunteers of Team Jammu including women folk for their tireless efforts in awareness campaigning against drug abuse. He said to fight out drug mafia is herculean task and society as whole must participate and join hands with Team Jammu to save younger generation from clutches of drug mafia. He alleged that it is well knit chain and government must take stringent steps to expose all those people who are spreading slow poison among the youth.
Noted Dogri Poet, Thakur Randhir Singh Raipuria conducted the proceedings of the program and enthralled the gathering through his spell bound poems on drug abuse and nation building.
