Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Jammu of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SK UAST-J) working under the dynamic Leadership of Vice Chancellor, Prof. B.N. Tripathi started a technology week w.e.f. 12-17th of August, 2024. The program which was attended by a large number of farmers/farm women and rural youths of the area. During the program, Dr. Amrish Vaid, Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu graced the occasion as Chief Guest, Dr. Rajesh Katoch, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry and Dr. Hema Tripathi, Associate Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu were Special Guest during the program. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Amrish Vaid briefed the participants about the different technologies and programs which will commence during the upcoming week w.e.f. 12-17th of August, 2024. He also elaborated on the adoption and dissemination of the latest technologies that are beneficial for the agriculture and allied sectors. Dr. Rajesh Katoch informed about the various preventive measures for management of Ecto and Endo parasites of large and small animals. He also briefed about the various management practices of poultry birds for profitable backyard poultry. Dr. Hema Tripathi interacted with the farmers and also guided them to remain in contact with the KVKs for better utilization of agriculture and allied sectors and technologies.At the outset, Dr. Punit Choudhary, Chief Scientist and Head, KVK Jammu welcome the dignitaries and participants and informed that the technology week will include Kisan Samellan, Crop Seminar on Nano-Fertilizer, standards in agriculture, Drone Demonstrations, parthenium awareness and swachata campaign. He further informed that technology week will simultaneously will eared on FM tadka 95.0 covering various aspects like dairy farm, mushroom cultivation, value edition on millets, modern aquaculture and colorful fruits and vegetables for better health. On the occasion, chicks of chabro breed were also distributed among SC Farmers under SCSP Plan for promoting backyard poultry under the supervision of Dr. Imran Ganai, Assistant Professor, Animal Nutrition and Dr. Prem Kumar, Sr. Scientist, Fisheries. Dr. Ravneet Kour, Dr. Sheetal Badyal, Dr. Amitesh Sharma, Dr. Muneeshwar Sharma also put forth their views during the program. The programme was conducted by Dr. Poonam Abrol whereas Dr. Raju Gupta, S. Satbir Singh and Sahil Talgotra also helped in the smooth conduct of the program.
