Theatre Workshop started here today at Natrang Studio Theatre Jammu with the lighting of the traditional lamp by Natrang Director Padam shree Balwant Thakur.
Organised by Natrang with the motive to promote and attract new talents in the field of theatre, this fifteen day workshop will be conducted by Bipin Gupta an alumni of Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata. This exclusive Theatre workshop is conceptualized by Balwant Thakur himself and will be supervised by Neeraj Kant and is coordinated by Mohd. Yaseen. In connection with the commemoration of the celebrations of 35 years of Natrang, the institution is organising Theatre festivals and training workshops on regular intervals. and the current workshop is also an addition to it’s ongoing drive of holding special programmes.
In his inaugural address Natrang Director Balwant Thakur said that Natrang responding to the growing demand of having regular Acting training and learning opportunities in Jammu, has taken the initiative to conduct proper professionally designed Acting workshops for new aspirants/entrants of theatre. Natrang is fortunate enough to have trained it’s own faculty within India and out side India in the International Institutions who keep training the fresh aspirants of theatre and acting.
Such workshops will now be the regular feature in Natrang with specific aim of channelizing the overflowing energy of youth towards positive activities specially related to artistic creativity and innovation. Soon Natrang is going to start separate workshops for children for which the advance registration has already been started. In addition to this Natrang is also starting dance classes in which the lovers of dance will have the rarest opportunity to learn under great masters of dance. All these new initiatives are being taken by Natrang is to provide a total professional training environment in Jammu aimed at giving a new life to the cultural movement of the city.
Describing utility of such workshops and training programmes, Balwant Thakur said that theatre equips a participant with lot of confidence and sharpens the communication skills in addition to the over-all personality development.
This has been the experience that people related to theatre and arts excel in every sphere of life. The workshop will focus on the exploration of t the alent in body and voice of an actor. In the developed world theatre has acquired a major role in education and top international institutions are using the techniques of theatre in shaping minds and personalities.
On the occasion, he stressed the need of developing professional perfection in the art of acting.
He further observed that most of the youngsters only do day dreaming and never venture to put their best in achieving excellence in life.
Those who attended the inaugural day of workshop included Brighu Sharma, Jatin Sharma, Abhinav Sharma, Sumit Raina, Ujhwal Bandral, Udit Sagar, Meenakshi Bhagat, Aarti Devi, Deepali Sharma, Gopi Sharma, Ajay Kumar Lalotra, Sushant Charak, Prerak Sharma, Rakshit Arora and Brijesh Avtar Sharma.
