Functional imagery training (FIT) is the simple trips to loose weight a lot of weight without exercise, according to a new study.FIT is a way to help you focus on reaching your desired weight using multi-sensory imagery.
For the study, 141 participants were selected for having a BMI of at least 25. They were divided into two groups:
* 55 attempted two sessions of motivational interviewing therapy (MI), which aims to highlight their need for change and state the reasons.
* 59 went through two sessions of functional imagery training.
Follow-up sessions were conducted for both groups over the course of six months.
“By engaging in therapy which made them made them visualise the changes they planned on making, participants shed five times the weight of those who didn’t,” the Daily Mail reported.
Participants who underwent the FIT intervention lost close to of 4.11kg in six months, compared to those who didn’t and lost only 0.74kg.
“Most people agree that in order to lose weight, you need to eat less and exercise more, but in many cases, people simply aren’t motivated enough to heed this advice – however much they might agree with it,” lead author of the study Dr Linda Solbrig told the Daily Mail.
Adding,” It’s fantastic that people lost significantly more weight on this intervention, as, unlike most studies, it provided no diet/physical activity advice or education.”
