UDHAMPUR SEPTEMBER 12, 2024: A three-day awareness programme got underway as part of Hindi Diwas celebrations to promote Hindi language, an integral part of India’s cultural and linguistic identity. The Department of Hindi in collaboration with Department of Music, Government College for Women(GCW), Udhampur organised a Hindi Story Writing Competition with great zeal and enthusiasm in the college campus here today. The program was presided over by college principal Prof. (Dr.) Nalini Pathania. Principal of the college, Dr. Nalini Pathania emphasized the importance of Hindi language and motivated the students to promote it in their areas. She said that students build the foundation of a country and it is their responsibility to support and promote their Hindi Language. She also assured the teachers and students her personal assistance in advancing and promoting the language. Dr. Nalini Pathania also highlighted that Hindi connects us to our roots and gives us an opportunity to express our thoughts, feelings and aspirations with millions of people. Earlier, Head of Department Hindi, Prof. Mushtaq Ahmed emphasised on the lack of enthusiasm today’s parents show in teaching their children Hindi language. He also focused on the inferiority complex that people go through while speaking the language on a public platform. A total of about 60 students participated in the story writing competition in which Sapna Devi, Semester III, Priya Manhas, Semester V and Sapna Devi of Semester V adjudged the first, second and third position respectively. Two consolation prizes were also given to Shivani and Nisha Devi of Semester V.
Prof Yash Kumar, Prof. Simran Khajuria and Prof. Sandesh Kumar were present at the competition as judges. The prize distribution ceremony will be held on the occasion of Hindi Diwas on 14th of September, 2024. The entire programme was organised by Prof. Mushtaq Ahmed, Prof. Sunil Magotra, Prof. Sandesh Kumar of the Hindi Department along with Prof Yash Kumar of the Music Department. The refreshments also distributed among the participants. Among others, Dr. Mool Raj, Dr. Vishal Sharma, Prof. Neha Gupta, Prof. Meenakshi Jamwal, Prof. Om Prakash, Prof. Varun Sharma, Dr. Sanjay Kumar were also present on the occasion.
