With the Times of India as its key partner, Mehnaaz Nadiadwala Productions has embarked on a mission to draw global attention towards the issue of female foeticide.
The social evil is being depicted through a film, ‘It’s A Girl’, which is based on the book, It’s A Girl: Dialogues With A Princess. Authored by Mehnaaz Nadiadwala, the book sheds light on the various atrocities against women, with emphasis on female foeticide.
The film aims to send a strong message about the urgent need to eradicate female foeticide, which is rampant even in rich, urban families. Directed and written by Simmer Bhatia, the movie has been conceptualised by Mehnaaz. It will soon be doing the rounds of international film festivals.
While this is their second outing together, Mehnaaz and Simmers have won 15 international awards for their first project. ‘It’s A Girl’, which has Mehnaaz in a prominent role for the first time, features Anisa Butt, a British actress who has performed at the Royal Albert Hall, as the female protagonist. Rahul Choudhry plays the male lead in the film.
Bollywood actors Jackie Shroff, Hema Malini and Jeetendra have already lent their support to the movie. Its theme song was recorded in Los Angeles, with music composed by Platinum Grammy Award winners Tony Mercedes and Jared Lee Gosselin, singer-composer Rama Duke and Nick Morzov.
The lyrics have been penned by Tony Mercedes, the publisher of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape Of You’. The album will be available with Times Music. The film also promises state-of-the-art VFX and Dolby system.
Mehnaaz Nadiadwala is the daughter of AG Nadiadwala, who started his film career in 1961 with his father Abdul Kareem Nadiadwala, and has given many Bollywood blockbusters.
