Tony, DSP Nikhil kick-start tree Plantation Drive at Haripur in Suchetgarh

In a remarkable initiative aimed at fostering environmental sustainability, Taranjit Singh Tony, General Secretary of the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee and DDC Suchetgarh, today inaugurated a large-scale tree plantation drive organized by the Garuda Welfare Society at Panchayat Haripur, Suchetgarh.
The event saw the active participation of prominent personalities including SDPO R.S. Pura Nikhil Gonga, Garuda Welfare Society President Parveen Kumar, General Secretary Khem Chand, Secretary Inderjit Singh, and Joint Secretary Ashwani Kumar. Their collective presence underscored the significance of the drive and highlighted the community’s commitment to environmental conservation.
In his address, Tony passionately appealed to politicians, students, and the broader community to engage in tree plantation activities in their respective areas. He stressed the urgent need to combat climate change and contribute to the global effort of creating a healthier planet. “Our motto, ‘Green and Clean India,’ is a clarion call for all citizens to come together in the service of our motherland. It is not just a campaign but a pledge to safeguard our environment for future generations. I urge every politician, student, and community member to take up this noble cause and plant trees in their neighborhoods,” he said.
DySP Nikhil Gonga also addressed the gathering, highlighting the critical role that such initiatives play in maintaining ecological balance. “Tree plantation is a vital step towards preserving our environment and ensuring a sustainable future. It is heartening to see community leaders and citizens come together for this cause. Let us continue to work collectively to make our surroundings greener and healthier,” he remarked.
The presence of local leaders such as Sarpanch Fateh Chand of Banota, Sarpanch Sham Lal Bhagat (Ex-Sarpanch of Chakroi), and Sarpanch Gurdayal Singh of Gharana further bolstered the event’s impact, as they pledged their support and participation in future drives.
The event concluded with the planting of hundreds of saplings, symbolizing a collective step towards a greener and cleaner India. The Garuda Welfare Society, under the leadership of its President Parveen Kumar, expressed gratitude to all participants and reiterated its commitment to organizing more such events in the future.
