Jammu, MAR 27:
Senior Congress leader and DDC Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony, led a deputation to meet Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Commissioner Divyansh Yadav, submitting a comprehensive charter of demands concerning the grievances of Ward 52 residents and Bagh-e-Bahu shopkeepers.
The delegation comprised Banarsi Thapa, K.S. Mahans, Karam Chand, and Rakesh Kumar, who collectively raised pressing civic issues affecting the daily lives of the people.
Tony urged the JMC Commissioner to take immediate action against the companies responsible for repairing streetlights, emphasizing the urgent need to restore non-functional streetlights in Dadu Daddi Park, Channi Himmat, and adjoining areas. He stressed that the delayed repairs have caused inconvenience to residents and must be addressed without further delay.
Additionally, Tony strongly advocated for the regularization of Bawe Market, urging the administration to allot land to all 25 Rehris (street vendors) who have already been idenitified without any pick-and-choose policy. He insisted that every vendor should get equal opportunity to continue their livelihood in a fair and transparent manner.
Furthermore, he highlighted the genuine demands of Bagh-e-Bahu shopkeepers, urging the JMC to resolve their grievances on priority. Tony also called for immediate intervention in addressing civic issues in Ward 52, including sanitation, drainage, and road maintenance problems.
The JMC Commissioner assured the delegation that necessary steps would be taken promptly to address the raised concerns.
Tony reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to fighting for the rights of the people and ensuring that their demands are met efficiently. He urged the administration to take a proactive approach in resolving civic issues and providing necessary infrastructure to residents and business owners alike.
“Civic amenities should not be neglected. The administration must take accountability and ensure that basic infrastructure remains functional for the well-being of the people,” Tony asserted.
He vowed to continue his efforts to safeguard the interests of the people and push for long-term solutions that promote fair governance and development.
