Traffic Police Rural Jammu today launched special drive on National Highway and interior locations in the areas of Kathua and Samba Districts to aware the general public and drivers of matadors/auto PSV and truck drivers regarding importance of following traffic rules and regulations to ensure hassle free/noise free vehicular movement.
The awareness drive was launched by Dy. SP (T) Samba-Kathua Sukhdev Singh and assisted by DTI Kathua Inspector Pawan Singh; DTI Samba Inspector Ajaz Pervaiz; DTI Bari Brahmana Inspector Kapil Manhas and Incharge DTI Billawar SI Kartar Nath on the directions of M. Suleman Choudhary, IGP Traffic J&K and Dr. Mohammad Haseeb Mughal, DIG Jammu Range.
The main objective of the special awareness drive was to educate the general public, transporters and drivers/vehicle operators regarding traffic rules and regulations. The move further aimed to restrain visible traffic violations by the vehicle operators including using pressure(honking) horns, overloading by trucks, dumpers tippers and long route buses on NHWs/ SHWs/interior locations, besides over speeding, rash & negligent, stunt driving, wrong parking on roadsides, plying without crash helmets/seat belts.
Traffic Police Rural Jammu under the close and effective supervision of SSP Traffic Rural, Jammu Vinay Kumar continuously launched awareness drives for road users/transporters unions/drivers/ motorists in routine manner for effective traffic management.
SSP (Traffic) Rural Jammu stressed on the traffic cops to ensure proper discipline, accountability and transparency in traffic management system, so that the violators could be handled strictly under the provisions of Motor Vehicle Act/rule
Vinay Kumar also appealed to the owners of the vehicles, transporters and agents to extend full cooperation to the traffic cops to keep a close check on the traffic violators/violations is maintained. “The general public, as a whole, has to participate in this process and to take responsibility for hassle free movement of vehicles for the convenience of themselves and other road users,” he added. The officer especially advised the youth to ensure wearing of crash helmets, while driving bikes / two wheelers including the pillion rider and avoid triple riding for their safety / security.
SSP Traffic Rural further said that special enforcement drives will get more stringent in coming days.
