Jammu, JUne 5:
Trikuta Group of Colleges observed World Environment Day 2025 with great enthusiasm and commitment towards environmental sustainability. The celebration was centered around the global theme “Ending Plastic Pollution Globally,” aiming to raise awareness and inspire action towards a cleaner, greener planet.
Students from the 2022–23 batch actively participated by showcasing PowerPoint presentations, posters, and innovative ‘Best Out of Waste’ models. A significant highlight of the day was a plantation drive organized within the campus premises, emphasizing the importance of reforestation and green cover. Students and faculty members collectively pledged to protect and preserve the environment, vowing to reduce their plastic footprint and promote eco-conscious living.
The college also promoted sustainability through a unique initiative: seed hampers were gifted to attendees. These hampers were creatively made using recycled plastic, glass, and paper waste, reinforcing the importance of reusing materials to reduce environmental harm.
The event was organized under the leadership of Dr. Prabhakar Shukla, Assistant Professor, Department of Dravya Guna, JIAR (Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research). Dr. Shukla emphasized the role of educational institutions in fostering environmental responsibility among youth and urged everyone to be proactive contributors to the global movement against plastic pollution.
The management of Trikuta Group of Colleges applauded the efforts of the students and faculty and reiterated their commitment to environmental stewardship by encouraging tree plantation and sustainable practices throughout the year.
The celebration served as a powerful reminder that collective action and awareness can pave the way to a plastic-free, healthier planet.
