Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla on Thursday visited various panchayats including Bandi Chachia, Nangali, Kankote, Takia Panchayat in Poonch to meet victims of shelling and took stock of the prevailing situation.Bhalla accompanied by Distt President Ch. Bashir Jatt, Julzar Jatt, JD Chowhan, Mir Hussain Shah, Mukthyar Shah, Gulhman Hussain Meelu, Mohd. Bashir Shah, Zahloo Din Gulham Hussain, Master Mohd. Sharif, Ch. Zaffar Iqbal beside others visited various areas and met victims of firing. They conveyed their sympathies to the victims on behalf of the Congress party. He took stock of the prevailing situation as a result of heavy shelling from Pakistan leading to the loss of lives and injuries to a large number of people, besides large scale damage to the property, forcing several border residents to migrate to safer areas. Bhalla speaking on the occasion lashed out at BJP for “abandoning people living along the International Border and LoC in the Jammu region and alleged that the hapless border people have been left on the mercy of God amidst heavy Pak shelling.
Bhalla accused the BJP government of failing to put an end to the ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the international border in Jammu and Kashmir, saying the lives of people living in border areas have become miserable.”The NDA government has miserably failed to put a halt to the ceasefire violations by Pakistan as was promised by it to the people of the country .”The persistent ceasefire violations have made the life of people living in border areas miserable and they are forced to lead a life marked by fear, uncertainty and mental stress,” the senior Congress leader said. Alleging that the NDA government remained insensitive towards the plight and trauma of the people, he said, “How long people of the Jammu and Kashmir and the country will be fed with rhetoric’s and hollow promises as the ceasefire violations go on unabated. Bhalla said the time has come to act and silence the Pakistani guns as the residents of border areas have suffered unimaginable loss to lives, property, livestock, crops, due to unprovoked Pakistani firing and shelling. “NDA government should at least be cognizant of the plight and sufferings of the lakhs of people living in the border belt who have been forced to leave their homes and hearths in an extremely chilly weather conditions,” Bhalla said. Every citizen of this country voted NDA government to power to fulfil its promise of acting very strongly against Pakistan to bring an end to the incessant ceasefire violations. However, irony is that there has been a consistent uptrend in ceasefire violations ever since the NDA government has taken over,” he said.
A large chunk of border residents demanded accessible and advanced health care facilities including a blood bank and digital Xrays .Doctors here refer us to Jammu hospitals due to absence of proper medical facilities. There is need to improve the quality of medical facilities here besides creating a disaster management team consisting of surgeons and physicians to deal with emergency situations and cases. Patients have to travel to Jammu in order to avail proper and advanced medical treatment. Even if a patient comes here with a stomach ache, he or she is referred to a private hospital in Jammu. Due to shelling and natural calamities people often receive injuries and loose even body parts. But there are no facilities in the district hospital which adds woes of the residents living in the border area .
