Valedictory function of 2-day National Seminar held at JU

JAMMU, MAY 27:
In the valedictory function of the two day National Seminar on ” Social Exclusion And Marginal Communities: Challenges of Deprivation and Discrimination in Northern India” organised by Centre For Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy (CSSEIP), University of Jammu today, Prof. R. K. Mahajan from Regional Centre of Punjabi University, Patiala gave the valedictory address.
In his address, he focused on Challenges of Deprivation and Discrimination in India and on various dimensions of social exclusion.
Prof Mahajan explained how economic conditions of marginalised push them to the social periphery. He stressed both on the methodological aspects and case studies in study of social exclusion and inclusive policy.
Prof. Jigar Mohammad, Dean Research studies presided over the valedictory function. In his presidential address Prof. Jigar Mohammad focused on the condition of the marginalised communities in the society. He said throughout the history of mankind social exclusion has been present. He appreciated the efforts of Centre in conducting research and study on marginalised communities, saying this can help government and other social agencies to formulate better policies for the development excluded communities.
Prof. Jasbir Singh, Director, CSSEIP formally welcomed the guests and the delegates and presented the seminar report.
He apprised that in total 12 parallel sessions approximately 120 papers were presented on different themes of social exclusion, marginalised communities and women. A special session “Kavi Ghoshti” was held in which Dogri poets Mrs Vijaya Thakur, Mr Kamaljeet Chaudhary, Shrimati Usha Kiran, Mr Krishan Kumar Sharma and Swami Anatar Neerav recited their poems on social exclusion and condition of women.
The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Niharica Subhash and stage was coordinated by Dr. Archana Bhat.Certificates of presentation were distributed to delegates and invited speakers post valedictory function.
