JAMMU, Oct 29:
Lone qualifying athlete form Jammu and Kashmir, Vasu Sapolia shall be representing the state in the upcoming 35th National Junior Athletics Championship to be held at Guntur in Andhra Pradesh from November two to November six.
“Vasu was selected considering his timing and performance in the North Zone Championship. There exists a system at the National level wherein timings have been given against each event for participation and Vasu is the lone athlete from J&K to attain that timing.
Vasu has won a medal in the 100 meters event in under-16 age group in the zonal competition,” general secretary of J&K Athletics Association, Sharat Chander told SAN.
Earlier, during the day, one-member state team was screened by the Divisional Sports Officer of the J&K State Sports Council, Ravi Singh in the presence of Sharat Chander at MA Stadium, here.
Vasu shall be taking part in two events of 100 meters and 200 meters events.
