National Secular Forum (NSF) has flayed the administration of Central University of Jammu (CUJ) for crushing the Dogra sentiments by deliberately ignoring the introduction of PG programme and research work in Dogri despite completing eight years of its establishment. Addressing a press conference, NSF state chief Dr Vikas Sharma blamed the incumbent Vice Chancellor Prof. Ashok Aima of downplaying the sentiments of Jammu people who fought hard for the establishment of Central University in Jammu.
“We got this University after a long struggle and had expectations that full-fledged Dogri department will be opened for the promotion of local literature and culture.
Also, a chair after the name of some tall personality of Dogra land will also be established to promote research in the field of Dogri literature. But, things turned totally different as the CUJ administration has failed to fulfill the popular demand of Jammu people,” he said.
NSF state president also said that prevalent corruption and gross irregularities were being committed by incumbent Vice Chancellor Prof Ashok Aima but HRD Minister has failed to take cognizance of the same. “All the scams going on in Central University of Jammu have been highlighted by the media and Chancellor as well as HRD Minister was aware of the same. But, no action has been taken against the erring Vice Chancellor,” he said.
He mentioned that Prof Aima have destroyed the institution which the people of Jammu got after lot of struggle. “The people of Jammu fought for Central University in Jammu but the incumbent VC destroyed the institution for the sake of his own interest.
Blaming the incumbent Vice Chancellor for complete mess, Dr Sharma mentioned that Prof Ashok Aima was busy in maintaining liaison in power corridors at personal level and sacrificing the interests of the institution to accommodate the wishes of his political masters.
Dr.Vikas Sharma further said that the CUJ administration was ignoring the youth of Jammu region in jobs and jobs are being awarded to non-Jammuites thereby the CUJ, VC was playing with the emotions and sentiments of Jammuites.
The NSF chief alleged that under the tenure of incumbent Vice Chancellor several irregularities have been committed wherein some anti-Jammu people have been promoted and adjusted in this institution much to the like his godfather.
“It is been five years since he took over the reins of University but he has failed to make permanent appointment of top officials barring one, who is also his favourite. He is deliberately doing so to avoid appointing any person for Dogra community at higher levels,” he further alleged.
He demanded that President of India should order a high level probe to unearth the scandals and immediately remove Prof Ashok Aima from the post of Vice Chancellor as there were serious charges of corruption against him and order CBI inquiry to unravel the wrong doings.
Among those who were present in the press-conference included, Pushpinder Singh, Mashkoor Ilahi, Sahil Sharma, Ankush Kumar, Chitram Sharma, Divyam Charak and Lakashya Charak.
