MSMEs are the engines of growth, and are strong pillar of development, MSME has a unique role in socio economic upliftment of weaker section particularly SC, ST community. These remarks were made by Vice Chairperson (VC) J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB), Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat while addressing a huge gathering of entrepreneurs including officers and officials besides other citizens present during the concluding ceremony of weeklong exhibition organised by KVIB Budgam under National Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe HUB, NSSH at New Bus Stand, here.
Dr Bhat in her speech said that MSME a Government of India sponsored entrepreneurship scheme has emerged as a huge source of providing employment opportunities to the unemployed and educated youth double than other key sectors.
She said presently 5 crore entrepreneurs are involved with MSME flagship programmes and added that keeping economic scenario of the UT in view, presently the central government under unique initiatives has fixed no targets for the UT which shall provide huge opportunities for interested entrepreneurs to establish their Micro units.
She said KVIB has provided Rs. 140 Cr under REGP to the beneficiaries on DBT mode.
The VC said government is taking many steps to ensure upliftment of Marginal communities and NSSH is also part of that effort. She added these event like NSSH provide a window between SC, ST and MSME unit holders to exhibit and sell their products at profitable rates.
ADC Budgam Dr. Nasir Ahmad who was as Guest of Honour said, such exibition has potential in disseminating the most required awareness among deserving weaker class. He expressed gratitude to KVIB for organizing such programs and provide handholding support to SC and ST artisans.
Earlier VC alongwith ADC Budgam, Secretary KVIB and other officers visited the stalls and interacted with stall holders who had installed stalls in the exhibition.
On conclusion, the VC in presence of ADC Budgam and others distributed certificates of felicitation and other mementos among many stall holders.
Among others, the program was also attended by CEO/Secretary KVIB, Deputy Secretary KVIB, other officers and officials concerned.
