VC SKUAST J Chairs Outreach Programme under Viskit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyanat Dathpath, Kishtwar

An extensive Outreach Programme under the ongoing ViskitKrishiSankalpAbhiyanbeing carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Govt. of India and Indian Council Of Agricultural Resswarch (ICAR) was today successfully conducted at Dathpath in the Kishtwar district, drawing an enthusiastic participation of over 500 farmers from the region.The programme was organized by DrNarinder Paul Head KVKKishtwar.
The programme was graced by the Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-Jammu, Prof. B.N. Tripathi, who addressed the gathering and emphasized the pivotal role of sustainable agriculture and government initiatives in uplifting rural livelihoods. He encouraged farmers to adopt modern farming practices and avail benefits from various centrally sponsored agricultural schemes.
Dr. AmrishVaid, Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu, provided an overview of the KVK’s outreach efforts and highlighted the need for capacity building among farmers through such programmes. He reiterated the university’s commitment to the holistic development of the farming community in remote areas like Kishtwar.
The event also witnessed the active participation of key academic figures including Dr. VikasTandon Dean, Faculty of Horticulture, Dr. SudhakarDwedi, Dean, Students Welfare, Dr. Anil Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, DrHemaTripathi Associate Director Extension, Dr Vijay Sharma Deputy Director Extension, Dr Vinod Gupta Prof. & Head Division of Extension who shared their expert insights on topics ranging from crop diversification and organic farming to student engagement and farmer education.. DrKushalChandel Chief Agriculture officer also spoke on the occasion.
As a part of the programme, high-quality seeds were distributed among the farmers, along with detailed awareness sessions on various government schemes related to agriculture, horticulture, irrigation, and farmer welfare.
Resource persons explained how farmers can access subsidies, technical support, and training through these schemes.
The initiative aimed at empowering farmers with both resources and knowledge, and was widely appreciated by attendees for its practical approach and farmer-centric orientation.
The outreach programme concluded with an interactive session, where farmers posed questions and shared their on-ground challenges, which were duly addressed by the experts. Programme ended with the vote of Thanks by Dr Vinod Gupta .
