The Vice Chancellor of SMVDU, Prof. Sanjeev Jain today flagged off a team of 15 students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering to participate in Ecokart-2017 at Gurugram from 28th February to 3rd March, 2017.
Ecokart is an annual event in which teams from all over India participate to showcase their design and innovation skills in the fabrication of the Ecokart vehicle. It is pertinent to mention here that SMVDU Team “Mavericx” is the only team from J&K which is participating in the event. Earlier team “Mavericx” SMVDU qualified the virtual round and stood 16th among 103 teams all over India. The team was mentored jointly by Mr. Sanjay Mohan Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering Mr. Mir Irfan Ul Haq, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Mr. Ankush Raina, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Around 50 teams from all over the country are set to participate in the dynamic round scheduled from 28th February to 3rd March, 2017.
The Vice Chancellor congratulated the team members for the successful fabrication and lauded the efforts put in by the faculty, students and the workshop staff especially the staff associated with the automobile lab Mr. Chandan Kumar. Prof. V. K. Bhat, Registrar SMVDU, Prof V Verma, Dean Faculty of Engineeringand Dr. Balbir Singh, HoD, Department of Mechanical Engineering also conveyed best wishes to the team. Mr. Mir Irfan Ul Haq, faculty coordinator of the event briefed all the dignitaries present on the ceremony about the Ecokart event and conveyed his thanks to all the persons who made the event a success especially the staff of the central workshop. Mr. Akash Srivastava Team Leader conveyed his thanks to the Vice Chancellor and faculty for providing an opportunity to participate in the Ecokart-2017 event. The ceremony ended with the demonstration of endurance of the Ecokart vehicle by the team driver.
