Vidya starts shoot for ‘Sherni’ on World Wildlife Day

Vidya Balan is known for doing out of the box films and changing the portrayal of women in Hindi cinema. The Padma Shri winning actress was lauded for her performance in films like ‘Kahaani’, ‘No One Killed Jessica’, and ‘The Dirty Picture’. This time too she has another offbeat project in her kitty: Amit Masurkar’s ‘Sherni’ which was announced in February.Interestingly, Amit Masurkar’s last film ‘Newton’ (2017) was selected as India’s official entry for the 90th Academy Awards. Vidya started shooting for ‘Sherni’ on March 3rd. The T-Series and Abundantia Entertainment production started with puja and the muhurat was aptly chosen to fall on World Wildlife Day.The puja was held in an ancient temple situated in the middle of a forest. The National Award winning actress took to Instagram to share a picture from the muhurat puja on set.The post was met with a warm response by actors Kriti Kulhari and Amit Sadh. Other than Sherni, Vidya has an impressive line up of films this year. She will be seen portraying the titular character in Anu Menon’s ‘Shakuntala Devi- Human Computer’. The film also features Sanya Malhotra, Amit Sadh, and Jisshu Sengupta and will release on May 8th.Written by Aastha Tiku, ‘Sherni’ is an Amit Masurkar directorial co-produced by T-Series and Abundantia Entertainment.
