NEW DELHI, JUNE 07,
Virat Kohli joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Usain Bolt in the sports zone of the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum here as the Indian captain’s statue was unveiled on Wednesday.
Capturing every detail, including his tattoos, the statue has been sculpted in his trademark stance, ready to take strike, in the Indian team jersey.
The statue took over six months to complete with the Delhi studio collaborating with the more historic original London studio.
The team consisted of more than 20 artists, hair stylists and sculptors, who took more than 200 measurements and 300 photographs of the player to get it right.
The statue has been placed in cricket ground setting with the iconic Dharamshala stadium as the backdrop and former captain Kapil Dev bowling to Kohli.
“Virat Kohli has made tremendous contributions to national and international cricket.
His passion and commitment to the Indian cricket team has inspired many youngsters. We had to get his statue after lots of requests from his fans,” museum director Anshul Jain said. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is expected to be the next in line.
