Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj releases Navreh Koshur Calender and Wishes the Global Kashmiri community a prosperous and a very happy Navreh.
While briefing the press conference Kiran Wattal,Padma shree K.N Pandita,Sh Kuldip Khoda explained the essence of the festival Navreh, celebrated in Kashmir valley and also in other parts of the country. .
Kiran Wattal said, Navreh is the Lunar New Year which is celebrated in Kashmir and also in many part of the country with great enthusiasm, zeal and zest and sanctity.
It was on the eve of Navreh that the Kulguru of a pandit family would get a new almanac Nachipatra-Sanskrit (Nakshetra Patri and an illustrated scroll ( kreel pach) with a sacred picture of MAA Sharika on it.
Formerly the Nachipatri used to be in the form of a tolled scroll but now it has taken the form of a small booklet known as Jantari.Before one day, Kashmiri pandits in the Kashmir valley would visit to the sacred spring Vichar Nag and took a holy dip in its waters to cast off the wintery sloth and impurities.
While speaking ,Dr K.N Pandita said, that according to the legend , the SAPTA Rishis assembled on the Sharika Parvata (Hari Parbat), the abode of the Goddess Sharika Mata, at the auspicious moment when the first ray of the sun fell on the Chakreshvara on this day and paid tribute to her. Astrologers made the moment as the basis of their calculation of the Nava Varsha Pratipada , Marking the beginning of the Saptarishi era .From the Sanskrit Nava Varsha Saptarishi is the beginning ofkoshur calander year .It is note worthy that it were the kashmiris who saved the Saptarishi Samvat from diluting into oblivion .
There it was called the Prokovic Samvat.
Since three years VKS has taken up many issue with the govt and sought immediate redressal of the burning problems being face by the community for the last of thirty years . the problems which has been continuously highlighted by the community like Reservation in central govt deptts., encroachment of property,Exgratia of left over property , Special recruitment in Police deptt.,Issuing of RBA certificates, Implementation of Ayushman Bharat scheme, Enhancement of Relief, Reservation of one MLA and MP for KPs to empower politically and passing shrine and temple bill. Besides highlighting of the above problems Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj has carried out many programs recently Mata kheer Bhawani Yatra 2017 and 2018

VKS request all the baradari members and kp organization to be united and fight the community cause collectively , as we have been time and again ignored by all the successive Governments.
In this regard VKS has taken oath to fight for the long pending demands of the community with the involvement of the samaj and all KP organization.
