Organised by the Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir (VAJK), in collaboration with Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, a 14-day coaching (boys and girls) camp in Mini group got underway at University of Jammu (JU), here.
In all, 28 budding volleyball players of the state, selected during the three-day selection process, undergoing the training. Out of these campers, a final 24 members (12 each in boys and girls) team shall be picked for the upcoming 27th Mini National Volleyball Championship to be held at Shirdi in Maharashtra from April 21 to April 26.
Earlier, the camp inaugurated by Director Sports and Physical Education, JU, Dr Daud Iqbal Baba amidst interaction with young spikers. He exhorted them to make full use of latest techniques and skills of Volleyball game in the coaching camp glorifying the name of the state.
Present among others were general secretary of the VAJK, Vijay Kumar Magotra; treasurer, R C Sharma; Dr. Brij Baloria and Vikas Karlupia.
Meanwhile, president of the Association, Sidharth Daluja lauded the efforts of the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, JU for extending their cooperation in making state volleyball coaching camp result oriented. He further said that the VAJK has made it mandatory for all state volleyball teams to undergo coaching camps prior to their participation in National Championships.
The camp is being conducted under the supervision of three coaches, Aashiq Hussain (JKP), Mulkh Raj Sharma (JKSSC) and Shubham Sharma (DYSS).
