Panun Kashmir organised a meeting of the prominent intellectuals and activists among the Kashmiri Pandit community living in the Delhi NCR today. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Rajat Mitra, author-writer and psychologist of international repute. Shri Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, J&K BJP State Spokesperson on Kashmir Affairs was the chief guest on the occasion. Rajinder Kaul, Coordinator, PK DelhiNCR organised the meeting and also conducted the proceedings of the programme. Upinder Kaul, General Secretary-PK presented a vote of thanks.
The meeting discussed the current political scenario viz a viz the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community living in the NCR. It was unanimously decided in the meeting to appeal to the displaced community to vote in favour of BJP in the ensuing polling on 12th May in the Delhi state. The important meeting among others was attended by Utpal Kaul, senior leader, Dr. Nidhi Tikoo Mitra, Chairperson-DOPK, Ankur Raina, Secretary, Vishal Sharma, official Spokesperson, Chushul Mahaldar and Deepak Kaul.
Dr. Rajat Mitra in his address said that the role of the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community in the socio-political affairs in the nation is not guided by the numerical strength. It has an inherent strength as an important issue of national concern that their role has assumed importance.
The factor of displacement gains due attention till the community is restored it’s due dignity in its homeland in Kashmir. Kashmir and Kashmiri Pandit is a national issue for all of us and the political parties need not shy away from the glaring fact. BJP has got an identity over the last more than three decades due to its association with the issue of Kashmir and Kashmiri Pandits.
So it becomes a natural choice for the displaced community to go along with BJP.
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, in his speech on the occasion, recalled the tough times of 1986 to 1991 when the community of Kashmiri Pandits was ethnically cleansed and exterminated from the valley of Kashmir. He said that it was BJP alone that sent a three member high level delegation to Kashmir in 1986 when the community was attacked and its places of worship were razed to ground in whole of Kashmir valley. Who can deny the active role played by BJP in the difficult time of 1989-90 and thereafter. BJP has the will and strength to eliminate terrorists in Kashmir and finish terrorism there for good. It is a welcome sign that Kashmir is the core issue of the election agenda in this all important election.
It is a great opportunity before the nation to set things right in Kashmir under the dynamic leadership of PM Narendra Modi.
He has given a new hope to the displaced community. The issues pertaining to the abolition of Article 370 and Article 35A has given a right message to the nationalist constituency across the country. I make a fervent appeal to the Pandit community living in Delhi, and who have their votes here, to cast their vote in favour of BJP enbloc. The people in ChandigarhUTR are also appealed to vote BJP’s candidate Kiran Kher for the second time.
