UDHAMPUR, SEPT 12:
A voter awareness camp for Persons with Disabilities was organized today by the Department of Social Welfare here at Panchayat Nagulta. Hosted on the directions of District Election Officer, Saloni Rai and under the guidance of District Social Welfare Officer, Kanika Gupta- the Nodal Officer, the camp was part of a series of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation programs focusing on Divyangjans and senior citizens. During the event, Sarbpriya, a craft teacher, along with a team from the Social Welfare Department conducted a door-to-door awareness campaign.
They educated the public about the SAKSHAM Portal, launched by the Election Commission of India and various facilities provided by authorities, such as wheelchair accessibility at polling stations, ramps, and the provision for home voting. These initiatives ensure that every voter, whether a PwD or elderly, can participate in the voting process with ease and dignity.
The team emphasized the importance of voting and encouraged the public to exercise their right to vote, urging them to motivate their family and friends to do the same.
