A week-long voters’ awareness campaign by the J&K Rural Sports Club (RSC) concluded with the holding of valedictory function at R M Public School, here today. The event held in association with R M Public School and Shiksha Niketan School involving different sports and literary events.
The campaign was part of the Nation building awareness campaign dedicated to public as ”I am committed to cast the vote.” The concluding function marked by a debate competition on the topic, ”Does Our Vote Determine Our Future in Democracy?” held wherein speakers expressed their views in favour and against the motion as also a skit was staged which enthralled the audience.
Secretary Jammu Development Authority (JDA), Rakesh Gupta was chief guest, who appreciated the efforts of the organisers and students for spreading the message to the voters.
Sports events were organised in the disciplines of Badminton, Athletics, Tug of War (both boys and girls). It was followed by a Cycle Rally and Awareness March.
President of J&K Rural Sports Club, Narinder Singh in his welcome address highlighted the objectives of the campaign.
Chairmen RM Public School and Shiksha Niketan Group of Institutions, Rameshwar Mengi in his vote of thanks address complemented organisers who made the campaign successful. He informed that students act as brand ambassadors and whistleblowers in generating the voters awareness by spreading the message for participation on the eve of polling day.
Prizes were given to the winners, runners-ups by the trustee, Rita Mengi, treasurer (JKRSC), Barinder Singh, Ravtej Singh (event organiser) and Kuldeep Sudan.
