New Delhi, Dec 24 :
Ever wondered what qualifies an audio headset to call itself a gaming headset? The short and easy answer is: it costs more than your common headphones. On this score, the VH300 from China-based Rapoo bucks the trend. It is attractively priced to suit the general unfussy, user who may or may not be a gaming fiend.
So what’s different? Comfort for one thing. These softly cushioned ear pieces sit snugly and cut out most of the ambient noise. The volume control panel on the USB – connector lead wire is chunky and easy to operate even with chubby fingers. There is a microphone on a flexible lead, which can be swiveled away or even removed ( this is a tricky operation, not explained in the instruction leaflet: you have to pull out the plug, while twisting at the same time). The 7.1 channel audio is crisp and clear with nicely enhanced but not overdone bass and you can mute the mike or the dancing blue LED lights if you are not the showy type. At Rs 3199 this is a good buy or, come to think of it, a nice seasonal gift.
Hit the bass notes — or not: The Tagg PowerBass-700 let you switch the low notes— on or off
Many of the best, big name headphones tout their rich bass notes. But what if you are not a low frequency freak? Sorry you take what we give — and like it! One audio specialist says, no, you get to choose. We were thrilled to see the bass coming through beautifully from the Tagg PowerBass – 700 wireless Bluetooth headset. We were even more thrilled that the headphones came with a simple switch to turn off the bass boost if we choose.
The earpads have a soft leather finish that are good for sustained listening and the 500 mAh battery can be charged to last for at least a half day. We were also thrilled to see the cups fold back nicely for transportation into a compact package — great for those flights where they provide entertainment via your own device. An aux cable can connect to any other of your devices if you don’t want to use the Bluetooth option. All in all, a good buy at the currently discounted price of Rs 2,999.
