Weather to remain dry, hot in J&K during next 3 days: MeT

Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Wednesday predicted the weather will remain dry but hot during the next three days in Jammu and Kashmir.
The MeT office said that in the plains of Jammu division, including Samba Kathua and Akhnoor, the temperature will reach 38 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees Celsius during the period and can be the hottest weather during this period of the season.
It said the temperatures in Kashmir and other plains of Jammu will also remain 4-5 degrees Celsius above normal during the next three days.
A mild western Disturbance (WD) is likely to hit Jammu and Kashmir during May 11–12 and can trigger light rain, snow over higher reaches, and thunder at many places, the MeT office said, adding that a few places may also receive moderate rain, particularly during May 12.
The weather may turn partially to generally cloudy with light rain at a few places on May 13, while from May 14 to May 17, the weather is likely to remain dry over Jammu and Kashmir.

Farmers have been advised to suspend farm operations during May 11 and 12 amid inclement weather predictions in Kashmir Valley.

Barring frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara, the minimum temperature recorded during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday was 0 to 3 degrees Celsius above normal in Kashmir valley.

The day temperature was also 5–6 degrees Celsius above normal in all weather stations in Kashmir Valley on the previous day.

Srinagar recorded a low of 11.6 degrees Celsius, and it was 0.9 degrees Celsius above normal for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir during this period of the season.

Pahalgam had a low of 5.5, and it was normal for the tourist spot of south Kashmir, while Gulmarg recorded 9.0 degrees Celsius and it was 3.8 degrees Celsius above normal for the famous ski resort of north Kashmir on Wednesday, the MeT office said.
