Lara Dutta, the former Miss Universe and acclaimed Bollywood actress, married Mahesh Bhupathi in February 2011, and they have a 12-year-old daughter named Saira. The ‘Bhagam Bhag’ actress had once spoke about the evolving landscape of roles available to married actresses and mothers in the Indian film industry. Known for her performances in hit films like Andaaz, Partner, and Housefull, Lara believes that filmmakers are now embracing a broader range of narratives that include women in various stages of life.Back in 2015, in an interview with PTI, she had stated, “Today there is so much work for actresses who are married or have become mothers. Filmmakers have role for everyone today. There are no stereotypical roles.” This statement reflects a significant shift in Bollywood, where traditionally, married actresses often faced challenges in securing substantial roles. At that time Lara was gearing up for Abhishek Kapoor’s film Fitoor, which stars Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapoor, Lara Dutta expressed her positive relationship with the director, leading her to join the project. She remarked, “Gattu (Abhishek) is a good friend. My role is not in the book. It’s a special role. Most of my scenes are with Aditya and it’s great working with younger generation.”
