According to a report, after Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam has been roped in to play an intelligence officer in debutant director Aditya Dhar’s ‘ Uri’, which is being produced by Ronnie Screwvala and is based on the September 2016 attacks in Kashmir. We have now learnt that the actress is set to fly to Serbia this week to start shooting for the film. Ahead of her trip, the actress was spotted in the city with her head covered.
Turns out, Yami got herself a bob-blunt haircut over the weekend for the part.
Yami said, “It was an idea director Aditya had discussed with me. Normally, everyone’s apprehensive about even suggesting a haircut to actresses but I knew what my character is all about and how well this idea could merge with it. I leapt at the opportunity and was super excited to do this experiment for my character. For the look, Aditya and my hair styling team, Shefali, Shimsha and Humera from a salon, did a trial and worked on references,”
The actress admits that the film’s team wants to keep things as authentic as possible. She added, “We are also working on readings and workshops, among other things, to ensure that we get the rhythm of our characters right, In Hollywood actors go to the extent of drastic physical transformations, and here we have seen Hrithik (Roshan) and Aamir (Khan) do it as well. I am an actor and it’s my job to meet the requirements of my role and the script.”
Speaking of prep, she had recently visited the Bombay High Court for her lawyer turn in Shree Narayan Singh’s ‘ Batti Gul Meter Chalu’.
She said, “It’s really eyeopening to do research of this type. To be a part of a court proceeding and to talk to people involved is always enriching. I will start shooting for the film by mid-June and can’t wait to be on that set.”
Her co-star Vicky had revealed to Mirror (May 25) that he will be leaving for Serbia in June for an extensive two-month schedule, and the makers will recreate the Indo-Pak border, the LOC and other areas resembling military posts and terrorist camps there.
