Endorsing its commitment to preserve the environment, “White Knight Corps” (WKC)organised a tree plantation drive at Nagrota Military Station to include all schools with 12000 saplings of shade bearing, fruit bearing and ornamental trees being planted all over the military station as well as astride the national highway passing through the Nagrota Town.
All ranks and their families took an oath to spread awareness about environment protection and inculcate the habit of tree plantation amongst their friends and families especially the young impressionable minds and pledged to protect the trees and make the environment healthy.
During the event, it was emphasized to all ranks and their families that there is a need to preserve our natural resources and environment for the benefit of the future generations and the same should be promoted as part of education being imparted by parents to their children at home. They were also exhorted upon to treat every day as ‘Save the Environment Day’ by keeping the environment green, clean, safe, healthy and polythene free.
Further, all were motivated to look after the plants planted by them to inculcate a sense of belonging. Similar, tree plantation drives were also undertaken across the Corps Zone at Rajouri, Akhnoor, Reasi, Doda and Palma.
