World Arbour Day: Plantation drive held at Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, MAR 22:
To mark the World Arbour Day, District Development Commissioner, Angrez Singh Rana today launched a massive plantation drive by planting saplings of Deodar tree here on the Govt. Degree College campus.
The programme was organized by J&K Forest department in collaboration with Department of Wildlife, 26 RR Army and GDC Kishtwar.
Divisional Forest Officer B. D Thakur, Divisional Forest Officer Marwah Vijay Kumar, Principal, Government Degree College, Prof. Pawan Sharma, Wildlife Wardan Majid Mintoo, Prof. Botany Faisal Mushtaq, Range Officer, Nagseni beside Jawans of 26RR Army and scores of NSS volunteers of GDC participated in the programme.
The DDC said that around 30,000 saplings of Mulberry, Walnut, Apricot, Apple have been planted across the district so far which will add to the grace and the beauty of the district and improve the environment.
He asked the students to disseminate the message of afforestation and sanitation in their areas because as both are pivotal for preserving healthy environment.
