To generate environmental awareness amongst Shri Mata Vasihno Devi University (SMVDU) Fraternity, the World Earth Day was celebrated at the university where Sh. O.P.Sharma, Additional Principal, Chief Conservator Forest and Director, Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing and also popularly known as Vidyarthi, delivered an invited talk on the importance of bird species as indicators of climate change.
The theme of this year for Earth Day was ‘Protect Our Species’ which highlighted and encouraged the symbiotic bond between animals and humans.
Previously in 2018, the theme was ‘End Plastic Pollution’ and the university actively encouraged students and faculty members to do the needful things in this direction to protect green culture. The participation of students of SMVDU was appreciated and a vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Preeti Sharma, Senior Faculty, School of Biotechnology, SMVDU. Considering climate change and its impact on human life, SMVD University has been organizing events related to environmental issues and tending to foresee a technology for sustainable development.
