World Health Day celebrated by MIER College

To commemorate the World Health Day, the extension unit of MIER College of Education (Autonomous) organized a couple of events namelya free medical camp and a sensitization session for the students.
The event was organized in collaboration with Ayush Medical Center (Indian System of Medicines) New Plot, Jammu at Kabir Basti.A team of 45 students of B.Ed and B.Ed Special Education (MR/ID) from the Extension Unit along with the Incharge Ms. Suman Devi visited the slum area.
The Directorate of Indian System of Medicines under the assistance of Dr. Saroj Sharma, District Medical Officer sent a team of four doctors and two pharmacists namely Dr. K.K. Dubey, Dr. Ramesh Kumar, Dr. Sangeeta Mahajan, Dr. Aditya, Sh. Ajay Kumar and Sh. Nikhil Jagotra for conducting the medical camp.
During the general medical check-up of the residents of Kabir Basti,110inhabitants were diagnosed with various ailments such as anemia,hypertension,gastric issues etc.
Free medicines were also distributed to the needy.In addition to the medical check-up, a sensitization session on the theme “Common Health Issues”was organizedby Dr.K.K Dubey and Dr. Sangeeta Mahajan who comprehensively explained health issues and the significance of balanced diet.
The residents of Kabir Basti actively participated in the medical camp and other activities organized by the college. It was a very successful programme and benefitted the slum dwellers in a very effective manner. Mrs.Suman Devi Incharge of Extension Unit formally thanked the resources persons and the residentsfor their cooperation and support. Dr. Adit Gupta, Principal MIER College appreciated the efforts of the unit for conducting community outreach programme and spreading the awareness about physical and mental wellbeing.
