World hypertension day was celebrated at Dr. R.L. Sharma Auditorium of Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research (JIAR) on Friday 17th May 2019, like every year which has been declared as world hypertension day. The programme commenced with lighting of traditional lamp along with Dhanwantari Vandana by the BAMS students. The theme of “World Hypertension Day” was “Know your numbers with a goal of increasing high blood pressure awareness in all population around the world. An impressive programme was presented on the occasion to enthrall the audiences. Many activities like speeches, posters, PPT presentations regarding how to control and get rid of this disastrous disease presented by the students. Hypertension effects about 16-37% of the population globally, that’s why it is also called a “silent killer”. The event was organized under the supervision of Chairperson JIAR Mrs. Suman Sharma, Er. Ravish Sharma and Ritesh Sharma Managing Directors, Principal Dr. Raghuvir Singh, Vice Principal Dr. Nitin Mahajan. Principal JIAR appreciated the students and staff for the successful event and concluded the event by vote of thanks and throwing light on do’s and don’ts for high blood pressure, its causes like obesity, salty diet, cigarette, smoking and alcohol and last but not least “stress” which is the basic root cause for many problems. He also stressed upon Ayurvedic treatment modalities, Relaxation techniques and yoga therapies for the Hypertension and suggested everyone to go for their Routine medical checkups and get control over unhealthy diet and Regime. The whole event was organized by Dr. Monika Gupta and Dr. Twinkle Gupta, Associate Prof. Department of Kayachikitsa. Dr. Poonam Gupta and Dr. Sukhpreet Kaur, Assistant Prof. and PG Scholars of the Deptt. were also present.
