The debate over implementing an eight-hour work shift in the film industry has recently gained attention, with discussions centering on the challenges actors face balancing long hours on set with personal life. Actress Yami Gautam, who has been managing her professional commitments alongside motherhood, shared her perspective on the matter, emphasizing the unique dynamics of the entertainment industry. In an interview with Times Now, Yami spoke about balancing professional commitments with the responsibilities of motherhood. She said, “To begin with, once a mother, always a mother. Regardless of whether you are employed or a stay-at-home parent, every mother is unique and does everything possible for her child. No one holds more importance to a mother than her child. Regarding my profession, the manner in which I select my scripts is entirely separate from my personal life.”As the film industry grapples with changing norms around working hours, Gautam’s perspective underscores that for creative fields like cinema, rigid time-limits may not be universally practical what matters is flexible understanding among all stakeholders.
