Chief Spokesperson BJP Mahila Morcha J&KUT Ritika Trehan today along with party activists observed International Yoga Day in Bahu constituency. Several Yoga protocol & exercise for upper and lower respiratory tract, lower back ache, right postural for pregnant lady, gastrointestinal tract and various relaxation posture etc. were demonstrated and executed by Yoga instructor. Speaking on the occasion, Ritika appealed everyone to inculcate and imbibe to practice regular Yoga for a healthier life.She highlighted on the importance and wellness of practicing Yoga for healthy body. She also spoke on the relentless effort by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the United Nation to mark June 21 as IYD, and thanked Modi for the achievement in the international level.
Ritika termed yoga as a way of life. She called upon the students to include sports and physical activities in their daily life. She recalled that the International Day of Yoga was proposed by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, during his address to the United Nations General Assembly on September 27, 2014. He suggested that June 21 be designated as the International Day of Yoga as it is the longest day of summer, which holds special significance in many parts of the world. The proposal received overwhelming support from the member nations of the United Nations, leading to the adoption of a resolution on December 11, 2014.
Ritika said, “Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India and it is a combination of a range of exercises, postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama) and meditation. Although yoga had been practised in India and few other countries, it got global acceptance in the year 2014.”She said, “In the present era, when allopathic and other streams of treatment are costly, it is Yoga, which is totally free. It only needs time to practice and gives very positive results if one adopts it in daily life style.”She said that the resolution recognized the holistic benefits of Yoga for physical and mental health and emphasized its importance in promoting a balanced lifestyle.This year’s celebration theme, “Yoga for Self and Society,” emphasizes yoga’s impact on personal well-being and community health. This year’s theme aims to focus deliberations on how Yoga can do well for oneself and ultimately result in better societies. Participating in yoga classes can ease loneliness and provide an environment for group healing and support. It promotes better self-care, added Ritika.
