Continuing their demand of construction of play ground on the allotted land at Bhagwati Nagar, activists of Young Panthers here today staged a protest demonstration against the Govt. & JDA and showed their anguished by burning the effigy of Vice Chairman (VC) JDA.
The protest was organised under the leadership of Bhanu Partap Singh Goria (President Jammu West Young Panthers) and Arun Mehra (Gen. Secy. Young Panthers) along with their team in the presence of Partap Singh Jamwal State Vice President Young Panthers & Tarsem Singh Distt. President YP.
Concerned over the dilapidated condition of the land allotted by the JDA for the construction of Play Ground at Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, angry YP activists raised slogans against the previous coalition (BJP-PDP) government and also raised the slogans against the JDA and demanded immediate construction of the said Play Ground to promote sports culture in Jammu region.
Addressing the gathering, Pratap Singh regretted that the land allotted for the indoor stadium/Play Ground at Bhagwati Nagar has turned into a filthy place where the garbage of the adjacent areas is being dumped to cause nuisance to the public health and hygiene. He said that the land was earmarked in 2014 for the said stadium but the erstwhile government remained lackadaisical towards encouraging recreational avenues for the local youth.
Partap alleged that no body from the BJP including the local ex-MLA & former ministers bothered to pay any heed upon the miserable plight of the land while in power and the youth of Jammu faced the worst ever discrimination under BJP rule. Besides facing obnoxious bias in employment, the young fraternity was being trapped in drug addiction by the rampant mafia operating in the entire province.
Partap lambasting the JDA for keeping the land in mess warned the agency to clean the land within a week or else Young Panthers would take an agitational course. He also urged the Governor to take serious cognizance of the proposal of the indoor stadium/Play Ground which has failed to see the light of the day.
He further said that the administration has kept the land in mess intentionally and despite of creating Play Ground on the land, administration is using land for political rallies and other issues which are lesser important than harnessing sports talent of youth of the area.
Tarsem Singh, Bhanu Partap Goria and Arun Mehra also addressed the gathering, they said that YP already highlight this issue many times and YP also submitted a memorandum to Divisional Commissioner’s Office regarding said issue, but concerned authorities had not pay any attention towards this. They appealed to Governor of J&K to facilitate the early construction of the most cherished Play Ground which would provide opportunities to the local youth to harness their talent in the field of sports.
