Pradesh Youth Congress, J&K, on Wednesday sought reply from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on US President Donald Trump’s remarks on Kashmir mediation.
Hundreds of Youth Congress activists assembled outside the Party Headquarters and raised slogans against BJP government for befooling the people of the country. Sitaram Lamaba, IYC General Secretary Incharge J&K and Shishpal Keharwala, IYC Secretary In-charge J&K also joined the protest.
Sitaram Lamaba said that Trump’s statements totally unacceptable in view of the Simla Agreement. He said under the Shimla agreement, Kashmir is a bilateral issue and no third party mediation is acceptable.
Sitaram Lamba raised serious concern over third-party mediation on the Kashmir issue. He said the serious thing was that the US president had named Modi for seeking mediation.
Shishpal Keharwala said “This is very unfortunate that the US has tried to meddle in bilateral issues of India and Pakistan. More unfortunate is that even after 24 hours, Modi has not come out in the open, vehemently rejecting the utterances of Trump,”.

“After Trump’s statement, everyone is discussing in the whole country about what the Prime Minister said on the issue. But the Prime Minister is not saying anything. We want to know what conversation took place between the Prime Minister and Trump.” Chib stated.
“We are seeing that the US President stated that Prime Minister Modi asked for mediation,” he said, adding this fact could be right or wrong but neither the US President nor the Prime Minister has denied this.
