Young Panthers said that Union Territory (UT) status to Jammu and Kashmir is not acceptable to the public of Jammu province. During the press conference, Partap Singh Jamwal, Vice President, Young Panthers demanded statehood for Jammu region along with domicile and Article 371 on the pattern of Himachal Pradesh (HP).
Partap Singh said that they welcome the decision of scraping Article 370 and abrogation of Article 35 A. “We also welcome the decision of making Ladakh as UT, but downgrading of Jammu and Kashmir is not acceptable”. He alleged that the Union Government has not taken into consideration the sentiments of Dogras and leaders of Jammu while preparing the architecture of Jammu and Kashmir.
“The positions of Dogras who are the founder of the State and sacrificed their life to create this state have not given due respect and regard”, said Partap.
He said that all the issues were strong raised by NPP in Assembly as well as on roads including Reorganization of State, 5 years Assembly tenure, Dissolution of Legislative Council, Property rights to Women, Citizenship rights to West Pakistani Refugees, Delimitation Commission, One Nation, One Flag etc. Partap added. He said that JKNPP continues their battle for separate statehood for Jammu region so that justice can be delivered to the people of Dogras. Others who were present in the press conference included Anil Rakwal, Nikhil Sharma, Arun Mehra & Kirti Pangotra.
